Governor Cuomo’s 2019 budget proposal with enhanced sexual harassment requirements for all state and local employers (including schools), heightened media coverage and the #MeToo movement continue to shine a spotlight on this serious problem. Particularly frustrating for school districts/BOCES is that despite repeated attempts at educating their workforces about policies and legal requirements, something is getting lost in the translation. Even workers who have undergone harassment training many times cannot seem to apply the rules to their everyday work lives. Come learn compliance strategies and best practices for reducing your organization’s risks in this regard.
Labor Contract Negotiations: Strategies for Tough Budget Times
Shrinking tax bases, state funding delays, expensive state and federal law mandates are just a few of the factors contributing to the current budget crisis facing most school districts in this State. Negotiating a collective bargaining agreement under these circumstances can be especially troubling for school administrators. This portion of the program will focus on proven strategies for achieving your goals at the bargaining table.
Cyber-Issues and Social Media Panel Discussion
In a moderated format, our firm attorneys will be discussing a wide range of topics from cyber-security to the unique challenges raised by student communications through social media and other electronic formats. Use this session as an opportunity to get your questions answered as well.
